Advanced Simultaneous Interpreting I

Simultaneous interpreting is fundamentally about doing two cognitive jobs at once — listening to a source speech while reformulating it into your A language in real time — and this course is where you actually build that capacity rather than just talking about it. You'll spend most of your time in the booth, working through progressively denser and more technical speeches, giving and receiving peer feedback, and being assessed almost entirely through practical exams (four midterms, two finals) rather than written work. It assumes you've already done consecutive interpreting and the basic SI groundwork; mastering the skills here is what makes CINT 514 and eventually real conference work possible, including the late-course shift to sight-translation-assisted interpreting with texts in front of you.
