The second semester of Hittite picks up where Hittite I left off, pushing past basic noun and verb paradigms into the messier territory that actually shows up in real cuneiform tablets — ablauting verb classes, heteroclitic stems, relative and indefinite pronouns, the supine, the ergative, and the modal particle -man. Weekly work is a steady grind of paradigm memorization, grammar drills, and translating beginner-level excerpts using van den Hout alongside the Rüster-Neu sign list, punctuated by quizzes, a midterm, and a final. By the end you should be able to sit down with a Hittite text, a dictionary, and a sign list and produce a working transliteration and translation — the baseline skill for any further work in Anatolian philology or Hittitology.
