Sight Translation I

Sight translation is the bridge skill between written translation and full interpreting: you read a text in English or French and deliver it orally in Turkish in real time, which forces you to analyze meaning, restructure syntax, and speak fluently all at once. Most of the semester is hands-on practice on economics and business texts, working through techniques like chunking and salami, building terminology, and getting graded on pacing, delivery, and voice as much as accuracy. It's a required second-year course that lays the groundwork for consecutive and simultaneous interpreting later in the program, and the habits you build here, comprehension under pressure, clean Turkish output, controlled pitch, carry into every interpreting course that follows.
