Literary Translation (English-Turkish)

Literary translation is where craft meets interpretation: you're not just transferring meaning from English to Turkish, you're rebuilding voice, rhythm, and register so the text actually works as literature in Turkish. Expect weekly translation assignments and reports where you'll wrestle with style choices, compare your version against alternatives, and defend decisions about tone, fidelity, and adaptation. Coming after the foundational translation sequence, this is where you start thinking like a translator with a position — questioning visibility, rewriting, and the ethics of reshaping someone else's words — which sets up the more specialized literary and cultural translation work later in the program.
