Audiovisual Translation

Audiovisual translation is its own discipline because moving a story across languages on screen means negotiating image, sound, timing, and cultural expectation all at once, a subtitle that reads well but overruns a shot has failed, and a dub that's linguistically perfect but lip-synced badly is unusable. You'll work through the major modes hands-on in group projects: cutting and timing subtitles in dedicated software, recording dubs against picture, scripting voiceover for documentaries, writing audio description for visually impaired audiences, and analyzing how Turkish remakes rework foreign source material. Coming after the core translation theory and practice sequence, it's where abstract equivalence debates meet hard technical constraints, and it's the most direct bridge into the localization industry that actually employs most TRIN graduates.
