Senior Project

AMER 406 is where you take everything you've absorbed across four years of American Culture and Literature coursework and turn it into one substantial piece of your own — either a traditional research paper or a creative work like a screenplay, short story, film, or digital project, building on questions raised in any earlier AMER class. The semester is mostly independent: you draft a proposal early, meet one-on-one with your advisor, submit a midterm report, and hand in the final project alongside a reflection on your own process. Because it's largely self-directed with light scaffolding, the real challenge is project management and sustaining an argument or vision over months rather than weeks, which is precisely the skill the department wants you to leave with.
