Game theory here is a modeling language for strategic interdependence: states choose while anticipating others' choices, and the course trains you to formalize that mutual second-guessing rather than just crunch equilibria. You'll move from strategic and extensive form games through repeated play and incomplete information, but the real work is justifying why a given game captures a real IR situation — solving for Nash is the easy part. Expect homework and essay-style exams that lean as much on your IR theory background as on the math, since an equilibrium without a defensible model behind it earns you nothing.
