Phenomenology asks how the world shows up to consciousness before we theorize about it, and this graduate seminar traces that question through its main 20th-century voices, starting from Husserl's break with psychologism and moving outward to embodiment, intersubjectivity, and value. You'll spend the term close-reading dense primary texts (Logical Investigations and Ideas I anchor the Husserl half) and writing three essays that argue for your own interpretations rather than summarize positions. It's useful background for continental philosophy, philosophy of mind, and aesthetics, and rewards students who like slow, careful textual work over surveys.
