Business Process Management is about treating an organization's work as a set of explicit, measurable processes that can be diagnosed, modeled, and redesigned rather than left as tacit habit, the discipline that sits between management thinking and the IT systems that actually execute the work. You'll spend the semester mapping real processes in BPMN (using Signavio), running quantitative analyses with queuing and simulation, and carrying a term project through identification, analysis, redesign, and presentation alongside two midterms and a final. For CTIS students this is where systems analysis training pays off in business terms, and it's directly what you'll be expected to do on the job when a company asks why a workflow is slow and what to automate.
