Research Methods in Economics I

The capstone of the Economics sequence: you produce an actual academic paper from scratch under the supervision of a faculty mentor and a second reader, rather than sitting through lectures. The semester is structured around one-on-one meetings, a paper proposal, two draft submissions, and an oral defense, with only three formal lectures sprinkled in to cover methodology. It's where everything you've learned about econometrics, micro, and macro stops being coursework and starts being a research question you have to defend, which is the point if you're considering graduate school or a research-track job.
