EEE 530 is a graduate-level deep dive into how bits actually get pushed through noisy, bandlimited, fading channels reliably — the gap between the clean modulation/detection picture from undergrad and what real systems like Wi-Fi and cellular have to deal with. You'll work through Proakis problem sets, three projects (typically simulation-based: equalizers, coded systems, OFDM links), a midterm and final, building intuition for why ISI, multipath, and synchronization errors dominate practical design. It assumes you're comfortable with random processes and basic digital comms, and it's the natural prerequisite for research in wireless, coding, or signal processing for communications.
