Methodology in History I

Graduate-level entry into history as a self-aware discipline: rather than learning more history, you interrogate how historians have made knowledge claims, from Herodotus through the linguistic turn, and what is at stake in debates over objectivity, fact, narrative, and discourse. Coursework runs on close readings, two written reports, and an oral presentation that together push you toward situating your own research within identifiable methodological traditions, including the specific trajectory of historiography in Turkey. It is foundational for the MA track, setting up the theoretical vocabulary you will need before designing a thesis or moving into more specialized seminars.
