Bu ders, common law geleneğinin civil law'dan nasıl ayrıldığını ve Anglo-Amerikan hukukunun precedent, anayasal yargı ve yargısal yorum (positivism, realism, interpretivism) üzerine kurulu mantığını kavramaya yöneliktir; yani konu listesinden çok, hâkimin neden böyle karar verdiğini anlamaktır. Dersler tartışma ağırlıklı işler, davalar üzerinden response paper'lar yazar, iki proje ve bir vize-final ile değerlendirilirsiniz; ABD anayasa hukukundan free speech, seçim finansmanı, vergi ve şirketler hukukuna kadar seçilmiş konular case study formatında incelenir. Türk hukuk fakültesinde çoğunlukla kıta Avrupası perspektifiyle yetişen bir öğrenci için bu ders, karşılaştırmalı hukuk refleksi kazandıran ve ileride uluslararası tahkim, şirketler veya rekabet hukuku alanlarında çalışacaklar için zemin oluşturan bir köprü işlevi görür.

This course introduces the core concepts, structure, and functioning of Anglo-American law, with particular emphasis on the US and UK legal systems. It aims to equip students with the fundamentals of the common law tradition, while providing direct engagement with Anglo-American case law. The course is divided into two distinct parts.
