The second semester of graduate conducting moves from foundational baton technique into real repertoire — you sit one-on-one with your instructor working through orchestral and operatic scores, learning to read them as a conductor rather than a player and to translate that reading into clear physical gesture in front of an ensemble. Most of your time is spent in individual practice and studio sessions, with assessment split between practical podium examinations and a written component on score study. It builds directly on Conducting I and prepares you for podium work with the full orchestra and opera productions, where interpretive judgment and rehearsal craft start to matter as much as technique.

Course is split into two formats: - Lecture: Knowledge, analysis and presentation. - Individual Lesson: Curriculum and exercises on repertoire with practical piano accompaniment sessions and rehearsals with orchestra. Each missed individual meeting results in a loss of 4 points from performance points earned in 11 weeks for %44 of course final grade. Make-ups only applicable during each week.
