Behavioral neuroscience asks how the wet machinery of the nervous system actually produces the things organisms do — sensing, sleeping, mating, remembering, deciding, breaking down in disease — and this seminar treats that question as a literature problem rather than a textbook one. You'll read primary articles across the full behavioral range, present them, run discussions, and ultimately write a grant proposal scoped to a behavior you want to explain mechanistically. As a graduate seminar it assumes you already have the systems-neuroscience vocabulary from earlier coursework, and it's where you start practicing the read-critique-propose cycle that defines actual research life.
