Behavioral Neuroscience

Behavioral neuroscience asks how the wet machinery of the nervous system actually produces the things organisms do, sensing, sleeping, mating, remembering, deciding, breaking down in disease, and this seminar treats that question as a literature problem rather than a textbook one. You'll read primary articles across the full behavioral range, present them, run discussions, and ultimately write a grant proposal scoped to a behavior you want to explain mechanistically. As a graduate seminar it assumes you already have the systems-neuroscience vocabulary from earlier coursework, and it's where you start practicing the read-critique-propose cycle that defines actual research life.
