Vision is the most thoroughly mapped sensory system in neuroscience, which makes it the natural lens for understanding how any brain turns physical signals into perception and behavior — that framing drives the whole course. You'll move from photoreceptors through retinal and early circuits up to cortical and high-order processing, comparing how insects, mammals, and primates solve problems like motion, depth, and color, with most of the work happening through literature seminars, presentations, two quizzes, and a written final. Expect heavy engagement with recent papers rather than a fixed textbook, since the methods and findings shift fast and the course is really training you to read and critique primary visual neuroscience.
