Anatolia III traces roughly 900 years of change across Asia Minor — from the Iron Age kingdoms through Greek colonization, Persian rule, Hellenistic kings, and Roman provincial life — using the standing archaeological remains as the primary evidence for how social and economic systems actually worked on the ground. You'll move chronologically through sites like Priene, Pergamum, and Ephesus alongside lesser-known places like Patara and Oinoanda, reading their architecture to argue about prosperity, urbanism, and environmental pressure, with a midterm, a presentation, and a written report. As the capstone of the Anatolia sequence, it pulls together the period-specific material from earlier archaeology courses into a single regional synthesis and trains the source-criticism habits you'll need for thesis-level work.
