The Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem 1099-1291

A graduate seminar on the crusader state that held a sliver of Palestine for nearly two centuries, treated less as a chronicle of battles than as a case study in how a transplanted Latin society negotiated coexistence and conflict with Muslim, Byzantine, Eastern Christian, Jewish, and eventually Mongol neighbors. You'll work through Prawer alongside instructor-supplied readings and primary sources, deliver presentations, and write an original research essay rather than sit traditional exams.
