Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing Technologies

IE 462 looks at how computers, automation, and data are reshaping the way physical things get made, moving the factory floor from isolated machines toward integrated, software-driven systems that handle design, planning, and production as one pipeline. You'll work through homeworks on topics like CAD/CAM, GD&T, additive manufacturing, and robotic cells, then synthesize it in a term project where you analyze or design a piece of an advanced manufacturing system. It sits at the bridge between the classic manufacturing processes course and the systems-level IE thinking (scheduling, FMS, automation) that shows up in operations and production-planning electives.
