Pricing and Revenue Optimization

IE 468 is about turning pricing into a quantitative decision problem: given what you know about demand, capacity, and customer segments, what price should you actually charge, and when should you change it? You'll model price-demand relationships, then layer on the constraints that make real pricing hard — limited inventory, multiple customer types, perishable seats on a plane, markdowns on unsold stock — and work through case studies that mirror how airlines, hotels, and retailers actually set prices. It sits at the applied end of the IE curriculum, leaning on your optimization and statistics background to tackle a domain where small pricing decisions compound into large revenue swings.
