Introduction to Electroacoustic Music

Electroacoustic music treats recorded and synthesized sound itself as the compositional material, and this course is essentially a studio apprenticeship in that tradition — you learn to hear, capture, edit, and transform sound the way a composer working since Schaeffer and Stockhausen would. Expect weekly listening reports, four hands-on projects in Reaper (field recording, concrète editing, synthesis, spectral/granular transformation), a midterm, and a final concert where your fixed-media piece is diffused for an audience. It's a standalone entry point with no hard prerequisites, but it grounds the critical listening and signal-processing intuition that any later work in composition, sound design, or studio production depends on.
