Epistemology is the philosophical study of knowledge itself: what it means to actually *know* something rather than just believe it, and whether our usual confidence in our beliefs survives serious scrutiny. You'll spend the semester reading dense analytic philosophy from the Sosa & Fantl anthology, picking apart arguments about skepticism, justification, and the internalism/externalism divide, then defending your own position in two term essays plus shorter written work. It's a required core course that sharpens the argument-reconstruction skills you'll lean on in nearly every upper-level PHIL elective, and it pairs naturally with metaphysics and philosophy of mind.
