Gender and Politics

Gender shapes who gets represented, what policies get written, and how power moves through institutions — this course treats that as a political phenomenon worth analyzing rigorously, not a side topic. You'll read across feminist theory (the Western waves, intersectionality, queer theory) and Turkish-specific debates around patriarchy and neopatrimonialism, then apply those frames to state social policy, political representation, migration, and masculinities through five homeworks, a project, and a final. It builds on the political theory and comparative politics core, and gives you the analytical vocabulary to read almost any policy domain through a gender lens — useful whether you go into academia, public sector, or NGO work.
