Conservation of historic environments isn't just about preserving old buildings — it's about reading a site as accumulated layers of urban and architectural history, then deciding what that reading implies for intervention. You'll work case by case in studio, documenting a real site with traditional and digital techniques, analyzing its phases, and developing a final project that moves from site plan through detail with iterative critiques and a portfolio. The course sits at the applied end of the conservation track, turning the terminology and theory you've picked up earlier into actual fieldwork judgment that later restoration and heritage studios assume you have.
