Microwave Electronics

At gigahertz frequencies, wires stop behaving like wires and components stop behaving like components — this graduate course is about designing circuits in that regime, where every trace is a transmission line and analysis runs on S-parameters and Smith charts rather than nodal equations. You'll work through small- and large-signal amplifier design including stability, gain, and noise circles, simulate matching networks and PCBs in tools like ADS and DipTrace, and characterize real circuits on lab equipment. It's the bridge from undergraduate RF/electromagnetics into practical microwave design, and the foundation for anything involving radar, wireless front-ends, or high-speed analog hardware.
