EEE 501 is the graduate-level foundation for thinking about dynamical systems through state-space rather than transfer functions, building up the linear algebra machinery (Jordan form, SVD, function of a matrix) needed to actually reason about how multivariable systems evolve, when they're stable, and whether you can steer or observe their internal state. The workload is mostly weekly problem sets (seven of them) plus an open-book midterm and final, so expect to spend real time on proofs and matrix computations rather than simulations. It's the gateway course for almost everything else in control and signals at the graduate level — optimal control, estimation, robust control, and adaptive systems all assume you've internalized this material.
