GE 301 steps back from the engineering toolkit to ask who actually shapes technology and who bears its consequences, treating artifacts like algorithms, surveillance systems, and infrastructure as products of politics, ethics, and social negotiation rather than neutral inventions. You'll work through case studies, a term project, and discussion-heavy seminars applying frameworks like Social Construction of Technology and Actor Network Theory to real controversies. It's a required GE course meant to land late in your degree, once you've built enough technical intuition to seriously interrogate the systems you're being trained to design.
