Archaeological Illustration

Archaeology lives or dies by how clearly finds are recorded, and this course trains your hand and eye to do that recording — turning a sherd, blade, or bone fragment on the table into a measured drawing someone else can read decades later. You'll work through the standard artefact categories week by week (pottery profiles, glass, stone tools, metal, worked bone), building two portfolios of pencil drawings that you then ink and digitize in Inkscape to publication standard. As a first-semester required course it sits at the foundation of the archaeology curriculum alongside your intro lectures, giving you a skill you'll actually use the moment you set foot on an excavation.
