A graduate seminar that treats Anatolia not as a backdrop but as a contested ground where Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman material cultures collided with deep-rooted local traditions, pushing you to read art and archaeology as evidence for historical argument rather than as a sequence of styles. The work is reading-and-presenting heavy: you'll digest scholarly articles each week, lead discussion on them, and build toward a research essay scoped and structured like a slice of an MA thesis. It's essentially training in how classical archaeologists actually argue, and a natural proving ground before committing to a thesis topic.
