Financial Issues in Engineering Projects

IE 448 takes the view from the CFO's chair: how a corporation actually funds large projects, weighs debt against equity, and decides whether an investment creates value for shareholders. You'll work through the mechanics, cost of capital, DCF valuations, hedging FX and political risk, structuring loan covenants, and apply them in case studies on energy deals, privatizations, and M&A, culminating in a term project with a panel presentation. It's the practical counterpart to the engineering economy you saw earlier, aimed at students who expect to end up negotiating with banks and boards rather than just running the numbers.
