History of the Cold War

For nearly half a century, the Cold War rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union created a glacial divide that haunted international politics, exacerbating preexisting local conflicts or producing new ones. This course examines why and how the two superpowers gradually became entrapped on opposing sides in different corners of the world.
