Senior Design Research

This is the research scaffolding that runs in parallel with your senior studio — a seminar where you build the conceptual and evidentiary backbone for the design work you're producing next door. You'll move through themed discussions on place, experience, event, and time, locate academic sources, draft a paper proposal, and refine your argument through writing workshops, tutorials, and a PechaKucha presentation, ending with a substantial research paper. It's where landscape and urban design stop being purely visual and start being defensible: the habits of framing a question, reading critically, and writing your way to a position are what carry into thesis-level practice and any professional career past graduation.
