Consumer Behavior treats buying as a psychological and sociocultural act, not a transaction — the course asks why people choose, use, and discard what they do, drawing on perception, memory, motivation, identity, group dynamics, and culture to explain it. You'll work through weekly quizzes that keep the readings honest, a midterm and final essay, and a semester-long project where you investigate a real consumer issue and propose a strategic response for a firm or policy maker. It sits on the applied side of marketing — useful after the intro marketing core, and the conceptual backbone for anything you'll do later in branding, advertising, or market research.

Expectations: Using Gen AI is encouraged during class discussions. Just mention AI contributions transparently. For project reports & presentations, on the other hand, keep Gen AI limited to grammar and formatting checks. All core content (arguments, analysis, data) must be original student work. AI-generated arguments are treated as the student's own and subject to cross-questioning and evaluation. Violations result in zero marks for the assignment or referral for academic misconduct.
