Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering

ME 101 is the first-semester orientation to thinking like a mechanical engineer: taking real, messy problems and breaking them down with the core toolkit of statics, materials, fluids, thermal, and motion before you've formally taken any of those courses. You'll spend the term solving problems with proper units and free-body diagrams, running short labs, and wrapping up with a design project and demo. It's the conceptual map for everything that follows in the ME curriculum, so the goal is less depth than knowing what each later course is actually for.
