Senior Thesis I

The first half of your senior thesis sequence, where you stop consuming philosophy and start producing it: you pick a problem, find a supervisor, and spend the semester turning a vague interest into a defensible argumentative position. The work happens almost entirely outside class — independent reading, library research, and three escalating submissions (a 500-1,000 word proposal, a 3,000-4,000 word literature survey, then a revised expansion of it) under faculty supervision. It's the bridge between coursework and PHIL 404 next semester, where the actual thesis gets written; how seriously you take the proposal and lit review here determines whether spring is a drafting job or a panic.
