Politics II: How Does It Work?

Where POLS 101 introduces the concepts and theories of politics, this follow-up turns to the machinery: how actual political systems convert culture, votes, parties, and interest groups into governance and policy across different regimes. You'll work through Heywood's comparative framework chapter by chapter, with two quizzes and a midterm/final cycle that mostly test how well you can read cases against the typologies (presidential vs. parliamentary, party-system families, bureaucratic structures). It's the comparative-politics backbone that later POLS electives on specific regions, institutions, or policy areas assume you already have.
