The fourth installment in the movement-combat sequence shifts the focus from technique drills to using the trained body as a storytelling instrument, devising non-verbal physical theater where imagination, character, and narrative emerge through motion alone. Most of the semester is spent in studio rehearsals collaboratively building a physical theater piece, punctuated by an open rehearsal at midterm and a full performance for an invited audience as the final, with stage-combat work like Shakespearean duel fencing folded into dramatic scenes. Coming after THR 205's foundational vocabulary, this course is where Performing Arts students learn to author meaning with the body, a prerequisite mindset for any acting or directing work that follows.
