Acting II

Acting II picks up where the first-semester Stanislavski work left off and pushes you into heightened-language and period material: Shakespeare's tragedies and comedies on one track, the German and Scandinavian realists (Goethe, Schiller, Ibsen, Strindberg) plus Chekhov and Turgenev on the other. The semester runs as a studio — you read the plays, get cast in scenes, rehearse them, and present, then get reassigned and do it again, so most of your real workload is lab hours and partner rehearsal rather than written homework. It's the bridge between foundational technique and the upper-year repertory and characterization courses, where the question shifts from "can you be truthful onstage" to "can you stay truthful inside verse, status, and a world that isn't yours."
