Bu ders, Tanzimat'tan günümüze Türk tiyatrosunun nasıl şekillendiğini ve geleneksel seyirlik sanatların (Karagöz, ortaoyunu, meddah) modern sahne metinleriyle nasıl bir arada okunabileceğini ele alıyor — yani repertuvar listesi değil, tiyatronun toplumsal ve estetik dönüşümünün hikâyesi. Dönem boyunca haftalık okumalar üzerinden metin tartışmaları yürütüyor, vize için kısa bir paper, final yerine ise daha kapsamlı bir araştırma paper'ı yazıyorsunuz. Performing Arts müfredatının üçüncü yılında zorunlu olarak konumlanması anlamlı: oyunculuk ve sahneleme derslerinde çalıştığınız metinlerin tarihsel ve kuramsal zeminini bu derste kuruyorsunuz.
