Structural Design II

Where Structural Design I gave you the logic of steel and timber, this course rebuilds your structural intuition around reinforced concrete — a composite material whose behavior depends on how steel and concrete share load through tension, compression, and shear. You'll work through the sizing and detailing of axial members, beams, and columns, touch pre- and post-tensioning, and finish by designing a small RC beam that you actually build and test, with earthquake-resistant principles framing every decision. It's the structural backbone behind most of what gets built in Turkey, so the reasoning here shows up again in your studio projects and in any conversation with a structural engineer later on.
