Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory

This is the hands-on counterpart to your inorganic theory courses, where the abstract ideas about coordination complexes, crystal field splitting, and bonding actually become things you synthesize and measure on the bench. You will spend the semester preparing complexes, isomers, and solid-state materials, then characterizing them with tools like UV-Vis, 31P NMR, and an Evans balance to extract formation constants, splitting energies, and magnetic susceptibilities, capped by a self-directed project you design and present. It is where you learn to trust spectra over intuition, and the report-writing load is heavy on purpose: this is the course that trains you to argue from data, which matters for any later research lab or graduate work in chemistry.
