Principles of Chemistry II

CHEM 102 picks up where the first-semester course left off and shifts the focus from individual atoms and bonds to how collections of molecules actually behave — why gases follow the laws they do, why some reactions release heat while others won't proceed at all, and what controls the speed and endpoint of a reaction. Most of your time goes into working problems on thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, and acid-base chemistry, plus a mandatory lab component where you run experiments, write them up, and build a portfolio. It's a required first-year science course that grounds everything from later organic, physical, and materials chemistry to the chemistry-adjacent parts of biology and engineering, so the equilibrium and energetics intuition you build here keeps reappearing.
