Principles of Chemistry II

CHEM 102 picks up where the first-semester course left off and shifts the focus from individual atoms and bonds to how collections of molecules actually behave, why gases follow the laws they do, why some reactions release heat while others won't proceed at all, and what controls the speed and endpoint of a reaction. Most of your time goes into working problems on thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, and acid-base chemistry, plus a mandatory lab component where you run experiments, write them up, and build a portfolio. It's a required first-year science course that grounds everything from later organic, physical, and materials chemistry to the chemistry-adjacent parts of biology and engineering, so the equilibrium and energetics intuition you build here keeps reappearing.
