COMD 439

International Public Relations

PR doesn't translate cleanly across borders, what reads as transparent stakeholder engagement in one country looks like propaganda or naked self-promotion in another, and this course is built around that gap. You'll work through country-by-country case studies (UAE, South Korea, South Africa, Germany, Brazil, Turkey, the US) as student presentations, plus a paper and the usual midterm/final, with the bulk of the workload sitting in prep for those weekly cases. It's an upper-level COMD elective that assumes you already know the basics of PR theory and practice, and it matters because almost any agency or in-house comms role you'll land touches multinational clients, diaspora audiences, or cross-cultural campaigns.
