Public Relations and Communication Campaigns

Public relations as a discipline is really about engineering how organizations talk to their publics on purpose rather than by accident, and the course walks you through the full strategic planning cycle (the ROPES framework from Smith's textbook) for building a campaign that can actually move opinion. You spend the semester in a team picking a real product, client, or cause and taking it from situation research through goals, strategy, tactics, and evaluation, with the term-long campaign project and presentations carrying most of the assessment. It sits on the applied side of the COMD curriculum, pairing well with advertising and media courses, and it matters because the same ROPES logic underwrites everything from product launches to political and humanitarian messaging you'll critique ethically along the way.
