Directing Actors

Directing Actors is about the craft of shaping performance for the camera — learning to translate a script into specific, watchable human behavior through casting choices, rehearsal, blocking, and the way you frame and cut what an actor gives you. You'll work through it almost entirely on your feet: breaking screenplays into lined scripts, storyboards, and shot lists, then auditioning, rehearsing, and shooting a monologue piece, a midterm scene, and a final project, with screenings where the class watches what you actually got. It's a studio capstone for the production track, so the value is less in the lectures than in finishing real work you can put in a reel and learning how a director, crew, and actor actually collaborate on set.
