CS 125 is a first programming course aimed at students from social science backgrounds, using Python as a tool for working with real datasets rather than as an end in itself. You'll spend the semester in Jupyter notebooks, moving from basic syntax and control flow into the numpy/pandas/matplotlib stack, with weekly labs and quizzes where you import, clean, and visualize actual data. It assumes no prior coding experience and serves as the practical on-ramp for any later quantitative or empirical work in your major, where being comfortable manipulating a DataFrame quickly stops being optional.
