CS 489 puts you on the other side of the lectern: you partner with an instructor of an existing CS course and design learning modules, exercises, or assessments that actually teach a topic you've already mastered. The semester is one long independent project — you meet with the target instructor early, iterate on materials throughout, and deliver a final report plus presentation to a committee. It's an elective for upper-year students who want pedagogy, TA-track, or grad-school experience, and the real payoff is discovering how much you only half-understood something until you had to teach it.
