Linear Algebra and Differential Equations

MATH 225 packages two toolkits engineers and scientists actually need into one semester: the algebra of vectors, matrices, and eigenstructure, and the calculus of how quantities change over time. You'll spend the term grinding through weekly problem sets and quizzes — row-reducing systems, proving things live in a subspace, then pivoting to solving ODEs by hand and as coupled linear systems, which is where the two halves finally click. It's a service course feeding pretty much everything downstream (circuits, dynamics, signals, numerical methods), so the eigenvalue/diagonalization material around midterm time is what later courses will assume you can do in your sleep.
