Advanced English Grammar II

Picking up where ENG 117 left off, this course pushes literature students past basic correctness toward conscious control of English syntax, passives, relative clauses, gerunds versus infinitives, inversion, the subjunctive, so that grammatical choice becomes a deliberate part of writing rather than an afterthought. You'll keep a portfolio of your own work, give a paired grammar presentation, and sit timed exams that test whether you can actually edit yourself under pressure. The point isn't to memorize rules but to build the meta-language and self-editing instincts you'll need for every literature essay that follows.
