Special Problems in Drawing

Drawing here shifts from observation exercise to a medium for personal inquiry — the studio becomes a space where you negotiate between figure, abstraction, and whatever idea you are actually trying to put on the page. Most weeks alternate between working from a live model and pushing into experimental, non-representational territory, with individual critiques pulling apart both the concept and how you executed it. You'll build toward a final exhibition supported by a research report and presentation, choosing a personal direction informed by artists like Rothko, Bacon, and Mondrian. It assumes you already have foundational drawing fluency and is where you start sounding like yourself on paper rather than rendering accurately.
